The program calculates stretch vs depth, taking into account the effect of the well trajectory. Conventional methods, usually in the form of charts or nomographs, are based on theoretical stretch in a vertical well, possibly with some rule-of-thumb adjustment for deviation. Cerberus is able to give a far more accurate prediction of how much stretch has occured, and hence what the "corrected" depth is compared with that measured at the surface (although obviously the accuracy of this prediction depends on the correctness of the input data, including parameters such as friction coefficients which are not known precisely, so this calculation provides valuable information but is in no sense presented as the "true" depth).
